Graduate Technologist (UK)

The Role

As a Graduate Technologist, you will create technical content for some of the world’s biggest technology companies. This content can include training materials for instructor-led training or self-paced learning, hands-on labs and programming exercises, web-based reference materials, best practice guidance, instructional videos, architecture and process diagrams, technical marketing and sales collateral, and much more.

You will work closely with clients and other stakeholders to gather information, establish requirements, and steer projects to a successful conclusion. In return, you will receive on-the-job training and mentoring. You will also be encouraged to study for and pursue industry accreditations and certifications.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Create high quality technical content in a range of form factors.
  • Interpret client requirements and relate them to the needs of your target audience.
  • Work closely with a variety of stakeholders, including project managers, copy editors, technical reviewers, graphic artists, testers and other technologists.
  • Work independently on small projects.
  • Adhere to fast-paced, demanding, milestone-based schedules.
  • Meet (virtually and face-to-face) with clients, stakeholders and subject matter experts as a regular part of the content development lifecycle.

The Person

To qualify for this position, you must have (or expect to attain) a good degree in a computing-related discipline, together with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to explain technical concepts using examples, analogies, illustrations, summarisation and simplification as appropriate. You will also have the interpersonal skills to work closely with clients and with colleagues in various areas of the business, including project management and sales and marketing.

An understanding of coding fundamentals is essential, and some familiarity with Microsoft cloud and enterprise technologies will be beneficial. Any participation in the technology community, such as blogging or participation in community groups, will be viewed favourably.

  • Good understanding of programming concepts and familiarity with at least one programming language.
  • General awareness of current enterprise computing trends.
  • Ability to work well and participate effectively in a team environment.
