Programmer Writers / Technical Writers (US Only)

We provide highly technical, computer related instructional content for Fortune 100 technology innovators and we need experienced programmer writers and technical authors, based in or near Redmond. Candidates Must be within easy commuting distance of the Microsoft campus in Redmond. Specific projects will require onsite work with Microsoft. Please specify if you are or have been an a-dash with Microsoft and if so how soon you would be able to become a v-dash.

The skills and experience required for this position include:

  • Ability to work closely with product groups building technical reference documentation including software development kits, API reference material, technical, architectural guidance and early adopter materials
  • Ability to take raw content from SMEs and shape / blend / rewrite it into a form fit for publication. This will require developmental editing skills including the ability to structure and shape content to make it flow appropriately and meet the requirements of the target audience. This type of work does not demand deep SME / technical skills but does require a sound familiarity and awareness of Microsoft products and technologies
  • Broad knowledge and technical awareness of Microsoft products and technologies
  • Several years experience working for or with Microsoft developing technical documentation ideally across a broad range of products and technologies
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft's Manual of Style for Technical Publications (MSTP)
  • Experience developing technical product documentation
  • Experience developing SDK and API documentation
  • An awareness of the demands of developers and IT professionals with regard to Microsoft technical documentation
  • Experience using (and preferably configuring) DocStudio
  • Knowledge of how DocStudio works
  • Experience of a broad range of Microsoft and non-Microsoft on-line help / compiled help creation tools


Technologist - Security

We currently require skilled writers and consultants focusing on IT Security, especially using Microsoft technologies.

The skills and experience required for this position include:

  • Developing secure applications. Specific knowledge should cover topics such as Microsoft .Net, C# and Visual studio and an awareness of Whidbey would be useful
  • Securing computers and networks against malware
  • Producing best practice guidance and learning materials including preparation of Microsoft MOC courses, Microsoft books, Microsoft Web based learning or Solution Hands on Labs
  • Implementing or consultancy experience within the relevant technology fields


Technical Authors, IT Trainers and Subject Matter Experts – .NET 3.0 Development

We are looking for experienced .NET developers with excellent written and verbal communications skills. Candidates are likely to have MCSD.NET certification or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge. The role will require you to create technical content, and technical training materials adhering to Microsoft standards. With this role, you will have an opportunity to research the very latest Microsoft products and technologies. You will need to be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Although you will work mainly from home there may be a need for you to attend meetings at our office.
